Chakkouba greetings
IMPHAL, Oct 28: Chief Minister N Biren Singh has conveyed his greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.
Ningol Chakkouba is one of the biggest festivals of Manipur which celebrates the unbreakable bond of love between brothers and sisters and reinforce the parental care and affection for the married daughters, said a message of N Biren.
Continuing that the celebration is now extended to other communities, the CM urged all to imbibe the ideals of this festival to foster the spirit of amity, harmony and goodwill in their lives.
Wishing the people of Manipur on the occasion, Lok Sabha MP Dr RK Ranjan Singh too prayed for the festival to enhance the spirit of unity, cohesiveness and brotherhood amongst the people of the State.
MAHUD Minister Th Shyamkumar also greeted the people of Manipur on the occasion.
In his message, the Minister prayed for peace, prosperity and development of the State.
CAF & PD Minister Karam Shyam too extended his best wishes to the people of Manipur on the occasion.
May this festival usher in an era of peace, progress and overall development in Manipur, said the Minister.
Health Minister L Jayantakumar conveyed his greetings to the people of Manipur on the joyous occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.
Stating that Ningol Chakkouba is one of the biggest festivals of Manipur, specially for Meeteis/Meiteis, Jayantakumar appealed all to strive for unity and peaceful coexistence amongst all sections with the arrival of the festival.
Extending his greetings to the people of the State on the occasion, Works Minister Th Biswajit too prayed for the celebration to help in bringing unity, peace and bond of love among different communities residing in the State.
Major General KP Singh, YSM, IG AR (South) and all ranks of Assam Rifles also extended their best wishes to the people of Manipur on the occasion.
In a message, IGAR (S) expressed hope that the festival will herald an era of progress and prosperity in the region and promote unity, integrity and peaceful coexistence of all communities in the State.
Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) also conveyed its heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur, particularly womenfolk on the occasion.
In the recent years under the initiative of different CSOs, the celebration of Ningol Chakkouba has extended to all the communities of Manipur, said a message of ZU.
May this festival bring prosperity and good health to all the people of Manipur, ZU added.
All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) too greeted the people of the State on the occasion.
Expressing disappointment over the current debate regarding the day of Ningol Chakkouba, AMSU urged all concerned to thoroughly discuss the matter so that such incident doesn't repeat in the future.
AMSU further appealed all shopowners and businessmen to refrain from selling their items at higher prices.
