Diwali greetings
IMPHAL, Oct 27: Governor Dr Najma Heptulla has conveyed her heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Diwali, which falls on October 28.
In her message, Dr Najma said that Diwali is considered as one of the biggest festivals of Hindus and is celebrated with great devotion and gaiety across the country and beyond.
The festival is also known as the "festival of light", the Governor said and prayed for the festival to dispel hatred, enmity and disunity among the people of Manipur.
Chief Minister N Biren also greeted the people of Manipur on the occasion of Diwali.
Diwali is celebrated to commemorate Lord Rama's return to his kingdom Ayodhya after completing 14 years in exile, the CM said, adding that people celebrate the festival by illuminating their homes to dispel darkness and to invoke the blessing of Goddess Lakshmi.
May the light of Diwali continue to provide hope to all, N Biren prayed.
Lok Sabha MP Dr RK Ranjan extended his warm greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion.
Stating that Diwali symbolises the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance, the MP urged all to enjoy the festival with their families and loved ones.
Rajya Sabha MP cum president of BJP, Manipur Pradesh, K Bhabananda Singh also greeted the people of Manipur on the occasion.
May the arrival of this festival bring joy, peace, progress and prosperity to all the people of Manipur, the MP prayed.
While wishing the people of Manipur on the occasion, Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Yumnam Khemchand also prayed for all the communities living together in the State to be blessed with wealth, prosperity, fertility and good fortune.
Works Minister Th Biswajit Singh and MAHUD Minister Th Shyamkumar too conveyed their greetings to the people on the occasion.
