IMPHAL, Oct 19: Samarpan, an international classical Manipuri dance festival participated by several Manipuri classical dancers from Bangladesh, will be held tomorrow at the auditorium of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal.
Speaking to media persons during a press meet held at Manipur Press Club today, Latasana Devi, a Manipuri classical dancer who is settled at Mumbai, said that the festival aims at promoting the rich culture of Manipur.
The roots of Manipuri dance, as with all classical Indian dances, is the ancient Hindu Sanskrit text Natya Shastra, with influences and the culture fusion between various local folk dance forms, she added.
The press conference was also attended by Poushali Chatterjee, a Manipuri classical dancer from Kolkata.
