After Independence from British in August 14, 1947, Manipur Constitution Act 1947 was enacted in January 1948 and held its first election, he said.
The first sitting of the 53 member Manipur Legislative Assembly was held on October 18, 1948 at Durbar Hall, he said and added that later on September 21, 1949, Manipur was 'controversially' merged into the Union of India.
He identified the 'controversial' Merger Agreement of 1949 as source of all issues the State is facing today and informed that resource persons, on October 18, will deliberate on all facets of events and issues.
He appealed all to attend the discussion.
