IMPHAL, Apr 5 : A sit-in protest was staged at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai today against the failure of the authorities to rescue Luwangthem Mukesh Das.
Mukesh went missing on March 16.
Speaking to the media at the protest site, Keishampat Leimajam Maning Leikai Women's Welfare Centre secretary Paonam Sorojini expressed disappointment that Mukesh remains untraced till today.
Saying that the locals of Leimajam Leikai have been protesting since March 18, she  added that the JAC formed in connection with the disappearance of Mukesh has met Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla three times.
The Governor had assured that efforts would be made to locate Mukesh, but unfortunately, no progress has been made so far, she said.
She claimed that the Governor has now refused to meet the JAC and his response is disappointing and suspicious as well.
Claiming that the Central security personnel can easily locate Mukesh if they want to, she asked if the Government of India is taking the side of Kukis.
Saying that they will hold a meeting with the JAC on Monday and decide their future course of actions, she asserted that their protest will continue until Mukesh is found.
