Doctor gets 20 yrs RI

IMPHAL, Apr 4: One Dr Ayam Sunil Khuman (permanent address: Khurai, Imphal East) who had a clinic at Pyndengumiong village, Mairang, Eastern West Khasi Hills, Meghalaya has been convicted of sexual assault on a minor.
The Court of Special Judge (POCSO), West Khasi Hills has sentenced Ayam Sunil Khuman s/o late Bidhu Khuman of Langsitehrim, Pyndengumiong village to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 20 years with a fine of Rs 1,25,000, simple imprisonment of five years with a fine of Rs 25,000 and in default of paying the fine, the convict has to undergo further simple imprisonment of another six months.
After an FIR was lodged on July 27, 2020, a case was registered at Mairang police station in connection with the incident, according to a press release issued by the SP of Eastern West Khasi Hills, Mairang.
