Protest continues

IMPHAL, Apr 2: Locals including Meira Paibis staged a sit-in protest at Kwakeithel Akham Leikai community hall today demanding safe return of Luwangthem Mukesh.
The sit-in protest was organised by Kwakeithel Angom Leikai Youth Club and Kwakeithel Akham Leikai Chaokhat Thourang Apunba Khunai Nupi Lup.
Luwangthem Mukesh is the son of Gyanendra Das and Luwangthem Omila of Keishampat Leimajam Leikai.
He went missing on March 16 last. Mukesh's mobile phone location was reportedly traced in the general area of Joujangtek, and search operations were conducted by the security forces at Joujangtek and K Sonjang village on March 19.
During the protest demonstration today, Meira Paibi leader B Shanti Leima urged the Governor and the Government authorities to trace the whereabouts of Mukesh and return him to his family safely.
Amid the conflict which started on May 3, 2023, many persons including young students have gone missing, suspected to have been abducted by armed Kukis.
Mukesh's disappearance has affected not only his family, but also the society as a whole. The Government authorities must intensify their search for Mukesh and return him safely to his family, Shanti said.
