IMPHAL, Apr 2  : Veteran politician O Joy has written to Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, expressing concerns over the delayed appointment of Judges to the Manipur High Court.
In a letter, Joy said that the Manipur High Court has a total strength of five Judges, but currently, only three are working.
He said that one Judge also retired recently on March 25, 2025.
Saying that a large number of cases are pending in the Manipur High Court, he added that the Court's limited functionality, particularly in a small State like Manipur has a significant impact on litigants.
Joy went on to state that appointment of Judges for Supreme Court and High Courts for filling up vacancies has to be initiated well ahead of time.
The Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court is also set to retire on May 20, and timely action is necessary to address the impending vacancy, he said.
