Encroachers asked to vacate

IMPHAL, Apr 2: All encroachers on Waisel Maril, Naga Nallah, eastern bank of Nambul River from Keishampat to Keishamthong and Elangbam Leikai stretch of Nambul River have been asked to vacate all illegal occupation and dismantle unauthorised structures latest by April 19, 2025.
Imphal West Deputy Commissioner M Rajkumar has issued an order to this effect today.
The DC has also instructed SDO Lamphel, SDO Wangoi, Magistrates and line departments to remove the illegal structures and evict the encroachers if the encroachers fail to vacate all illegal occupations by April 19.
Claims and objections, if any, may be submitted to the Imphal West DC  or the concerned SDO on or before April 12, 2025, mentioned the order.  
Ban on SUP : To effectively enforce the ban on single use plastic items, enforcement drives will commence from April 15, Manipur Pollution Control Board has said.
The enforcement drives will be carried out by a team comprising members of staff of the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), District Pan- chayats, Gram Panchayats and Manipur Pollution Control Board, it said in a notification issued on March 28.
"Necessary action will be taken against producers, stockists, distributors, brand owners, manufacturers and others found violating the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016 (as amended). The action may include lodging of police complaints, seizure of banned plastic items and imposing environmental compensation as per guidelines," said the notification.
The enforcement drive will cover banned plastic items identified by the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016 (as amended) and the Manipur Plastic Policy, 2022, it added.
