Altogether 13 MLAs, different party morcha presidents and officer bearers attended the meeting which was held from 1 pm to 3 pm (approx).
MLAs Thongam Biswajit (Thongju), Yumnam Khem-chand (Singjamei), Govin- das Konthoujam (Bishnu-pur), Karam Shyam (Lang- thabal), Paonam Brojen (Wangjing Tentha), Tong-bram Robindro (Thanga), Kongkham Robindro (Ma-yang Imphal), Lourembam Rameshwar Meitei (Keirao), Dr Usham Deben (Wabagai), Khongbantabam Ibomcha (Lamlai), Dr Yumnam Radheshyam (Hiyanglam AC), Thangjam Arunkumar (Wangkhei) and Khwairakpam Raghumani (Uripok) attended the meeting.
Apart from the MLAs, BJP Manipur vice presidents Nongthonbam Nimbus and L Minabanta and general secretaries K Saratkumar and L Deven also attended the meeting among other party officials.
According to reports received by The Sangai Express, the meeting unanimously resolved to constitute a 13 member committee with Saratkumar as the convenor to closely monitor developments related to delimitation in Manipur and communicate its stand to the Central Government.
The committee reportedly will have BJP officials from all the districts.
P Brojen, K Govindas and Karam Shyam, who had previously served on the delimitation committee during the Congress tenure, have been appointed as members of the BJP delimitation committee.
The meeting resolved to appoint the remaining members of the committee, examine the resolutions taken on delimitation during the Congress tenure and draft its resolutions this year.
The meeting emphasized that the State Government should not remain silent on the delimitation issue, as it will inevitably happen across the country in 2026.
The meeting also discussed the public's reluctance to support delimitation based on the 2001 Census.
The meeting agreed that delimitation should never be carried out based on the 2001 Census data as abnormal population growth was detected in some districts.
It is reported that BJP Manipur general secretary sent an invitation to all the BJP MLAs to attend the meeting on March 29.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Govindas said that creating a specific National Register of Citizens (NRC) for Manipur before proceeding with delimitation would be the right approach.
