Still Waiting

We are still waiting, with hearts so true,
For a life of normalcy, and peace anew.
A life far from chaos, and social unrest,
Where bandhs and blockades are just a distant test.

We yearn to travel freely, by road and by air,
East, West, North and South, without a single care.
To find peace on the highways, and not be harassed or worn,
To sleep in peace, without nightmares, and have a heart that's reborn.

When will our minds be free from worry and fear?
When will we eat proper meals, and work without a tear?
Like birds flying freely, with no chains to bind,
When will our dreams come true, and our hearts be aligned?

When will we step out of relief camps, and return home in peace ?
Or will our dreams be stuck in the void, like a tree that's lost its sea?
When will peace and joy descend, like a gentle summer rain?
And nothing be sweeter, than seeing our farmland, our bread and butter, our gain.

Still waiting, though the night feels long,
We hold onto hope, hope against hope, and sing a sweet, sweet song.
Our life is tough, the road ahead is hazy and grey,
But we'll bear, come what may, for a life of freedom, come what may.

Coz’ somewhere out there, it waits for me
A life of plenty with heart full and free
A life of freedom filled with peace.
