IMPHAL, Feb 16: Days after President' Rule was imposed and the State Assembly put under suspended animation, former Kuki MLAs have urged the Government of India to "lay out a roadmap" and "a negotiated settlement".
This was expressed by the former MLAs in a joint press statement they signed and released today.
"We, the undersigned ten MLAs of Manipur, while acknowledging the Centre's decision to place the Assembly under suspended animation express hope that the Government of India would lay out a comprehensive political roadmap for peace and justice under a negotiated settlement.
We also look forward to time-bound measures to end the sufferings that the conflict affected [afflicted] and internally displaced people continue to undergo," said the former MLAs in the press release.
The President's Rule was imposed in Manipur on February 13 after N Biren Singh resigned as the Chief Minister on February 9.
