IMPHAL, Jan 14 : World Pro Langthabal (WPL) and Urup Arapti FC (UA FC) kick-started their league campaign in the 5th Chandranadi Trophy on winning notes today at Haoreibi Kangjeibung .
In the Group F opener, WPL thumped Narankonjil FC (NFC) by 2-0 goals to boost their pre-quarterfinals hopes.
WPL earned the lead through an own goal conceded by Th Bonish in the 13th minute before Binoy hit the decisive goal in the 34th minute of the match.
Later in the 5th match of the tournament and Group C opener, UA FC rode on doubles from N Kabiraj and Md Sohail to romp 6-0 past Samurou SFS.
K Bidyachandra opened the scoring for UA FC in the 17th minute before N Kabiraj doubled the advantage in the 19th minute and P Harish Singh made it 3-0 after 25 minutes.
The scoring spree continued with Md Sohail scoring two goals back to back in the 33rd and the 35th minute to make it 5-0 before N Kabiraj rounded up the scoring in the 50th minute and completed his double.
The win also boosted UA FC's chances for a place in the last-16 stage of the tournament.
