Kiranmala Chanu, others call on Governor

Laipharakpam Kiranmala Chanu, a gymnast who participated in the Inter SAI Artistic Gymnastic Tournament 2024 held at Kolkata recently, along with her father and two others met with Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan in Imphal today.
According to a release issued by PRO Raj Bhavan, the family of the gymnast has been residing in a relief camp since last year due to the ethnic violence and she was later admitted to Sports Authority of India (SAI).
The Governor appreciated the talent of the 11-year-old gymnast and as a token of appreciation she donated a sum of Rs 25,000 to the gymnast.
Kiranmala along with her father thanked the Governor for her love and support.
Moreover, three transgender social activists led by Malem Thongam also met with the Governor at Raj Bhavan in Imphal and submitted a memorandum demanding prioritization of restoration of peace and normalcy in the State.
Seeking the support of the Governor, the transgender social activists said that the State has been facing a 14-month long crisis which has affected walks of life including the transgenders.
The Governor assured all possible support to the transgenders in the State.  
Besides, five members of All Manipur Teli Association led by its secretary Ashok Prasad Sahu also called on the Governor today at Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum requesting her intervention in solving the genuine grievances faced by the Teli community in the State.
Recalling their demands made earlier through a memorandum which was submitted to the Governor in early May this year, they said that a number of issues have been arising out of the recent developments in respect of issuance of certificates like PRC, ILP, etc which have been a hurdle to the community.
The Governor while listening to their concerns assured them to extend her best support to the community and asked them to submit copies of their grievances to the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary of Manipur.
