Assault protested

Imphal, Jul 24 : A sit-in protest was staged against the alleged assault of a meira paibi leader by some cadres of KCP (Noyon) at Thoubal Athokpam Leikai, today.
As per the protesters, it is the advisor of Athokpam Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (AMPAL) who was allegedly assaulted by cadres of KCP (Noyon) on July 19.
Multiple placards with a similar inscription "Imasingda Khut Tharakpa Yaningde '' were held by the protesters.
Speaking to the media, advisor of Athokpam Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (AMPAL) Memory Athokpam said that an underground outfit summoned two families over a land dispute recently.
Saying that womenfolk of Thoubal Athokpam went to meet the cadres of the outfit following the summon with one of the families in dispute on July 19, she said that the two families along with the womenfolk held a talk in one room.
Claiming that the cadres however started assaulting them and one of the women fainted, she said that the cadres didn't spare the women who came to help the unconscious woman.
Saying that they take the matter very seriously, she urged all concerned to not repeat the same mistake again.
