The bomb, suspected to be planted by Kuki National Army (Burma), claimed the life of one Naga Army cadre and left two others injured on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Major Huseya Assumi, bearing Naga Army No. AB-11362, son of Zhento Assumi of Toshezu village, Nagaland.

According to sources, the dead body was retrieved with the help of locals from the blast site and will be sent to his native village in Nagaland.
However, a detailed information is still awaited from official sources. A condolence service of Late Major Hosea Assumi, Sumi Region, Naga Army will be organised by the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim, Wung Tangkhul Region on Wednesday at WTR Hall, Ukhrul Headquarters at 10 pm , as per sources.

It may be mentioned that another Naga Army, Captain RS Winson from Ngainga Village, Ukhrul District was killed in action while fighting Kuki National Army (Burma) on June 15, 2024. The NSCN (IM) in February 2024 had accused the KNA (B) of killing Honpam Chithung on February 10, 2024, in Myanmar.
