IMPHAL, Jul 24 : Imphal West men, junior boys and girls secured the team event titles in the 41st Inter District and 68th State Open Badminton Championships being organised by the Manipur Badminton Association at its indoor hall in DM University Campus.
Imphal West prevailed 3-1 over Bishnupur in the men's team event final this evening after the junior boys team thumped Senapati team 2-0 this morning and the girls' team registered a 2-1 final victory against the Imphal East team.
In the men's final, Imphal West started their campaign on a bright note with Ch Ritesh securing a 21-14, 16-21, 21-7 win over Martin Ingudam in the first singles match before Lourembam Thoungam doubled the advantage beating Hemam Malemnganba 21-0, 21-0 in the second singles match.
The Bishnupur team made their way back into the match with Haobijam Rohenkumar and RK Alen defeating Khoirom Punsiba and Shushilkumar Haobam 20-22, 21-16, 21-10 in the following doubles match, but  Kasprov Ahanthem won 21-17, 21-9 against Oinam Aimsam in the third singles match to seal the victory for the Imphal West team.
In the boys' final, Lourembam Thoungam put Imphal West ahead beating Kyoveio Vemai 24-26, 21-14, 21-14 in the first singles match before Borish Salam and Thokchom Hursh notched up a 13-21, 24-22, 21-13 win over Kyoveio Vemai and Pfoki Liruna in the following doubles match.
Meanwhile in the girls final, Konsam Gunjan defeated Leonie Tayenjam 24-26, 21-16, 21-12 to earn Imphal East team a 1-0 lead but they slumped in another singles match and a doubles match to give away the title to Imphal West team.
It were Chirom Bellarix and Khangenbam Senlina who drew level for Imphal West beating Konsam Gunjan and Laishram Nandita 18-21, 21-14, 21-16 before Ashangbam Devika completed the turnaround with a 21-18, 21-11 win against Laishram Nandita in the following singles encounter.
State Open Badminton Championships : S Archana, S Leinika and Thoihenbi reach  U-11 girls singles semis
The second day of the championships saw Sarunbam Archana of Imphal East, Salam Leinika of Imphal East and Elangbam Thoihenbi Kakching making their ways to the semi-final of the U-11 girls singles competition.
Archana booked her semi-final ticket with a 21-12, 21-16 win over Jia Sanabam of Imphal West in the first quarterfinal match.
Meanwhile Salam Leinika, who knocked out K Sinthalembi of Bishnupur in straight sets earlier in the round of 32, got the better of Ksh Chinglembi of Kakching 21-15, 21-5 in the second quarterfinal match of the competition.
Later in the third quarterfinal match, Elangbam Thoihenbi outlasted S Chingkheinganbi of Imphal East 21-19, 21-19 to confirm her semi-final ticket.
The day also saw Romibala Sarungbam of Imphal West beat Thokchom Urbasri of Jiribam 21-10, 16-21, 21-18 to enter quarterfinals of the U-11 girls singles competition.
5 round of 32 matches of the U-19 boys singles competition were also completed today.
In the first round of 32 clash, Lourembam Thoungam of Imphal West got the better of Roshan Ingudam of Jiribam 21-14, 21-9 to make his way into the pre-quarterfinals.
In the second round of 32 match, Sapam Shyam of Imphal West defeated K Dayananda of Kakching 21-18, 21-19 before Khomdram Netij Acceber of Bishnupur eased 21-6, 21-3 past Diamond Leimapokpam of Thoubal in the third match.
Thoubal's Saikhom Gung also booked his place in the round of 16 with a 21-15, 13-21, 22-20 win over Imphal East's Loyangamba Leishungbam in the following match before Chirom Bose of Imphal West sealed a hard fought 22-24, 21-7, 21-16 win over Kalo Truman of Senapati.
