Kakching 2nd Division Football LeagueKFC upset WALYDA 2-1 as SRDC trounce IYA 7-0 to finish Group A runners up

IMPHAL, Jul 22 : KFC, Kakching stunned WALYDA, Wabagai with a comeback 2-1 win as SRDC, Kakching overwhelmed IYA, Kakching 7-0 in their final Group A matches of the Kakching Second Division Football League 2024.
With today's results, WALYDA were denied a chance to top the group and instead finished third below Group A runners up SRDC who finished on the same 7 points but with a better goal count (12 against WALYDA's 10).
Group A winners UCC will now face Group B runners up PFC, Tokpaching  in the first semi-final on July 24 while Group B winners KYWAC, Wabagai will play Group A runners up SRDC in the second semi-final match on July 25.
In the 9th Group A match of the tournament, N Chinglen and M Devaraj made braces to inspire SRDC a comfortable 7-0 victory against IYA.
They were into action from the word go and drew first blood just two minutes into the game when N Henba caught IYA custodian by surprise. RK Mangalsana doubled the advantage ten minutes later before N Chinglensana scored back to back (20', 35+2') to make it 4-0 before halftime.
SRDC picked up the game from where they left after the restart and raced to a 5-0 lead courtesy of N Dolton in the 38th minute before M Devaraj quickfired two goals back to back in the 65th and the 69th minutes to complete the 7-0 rout of lacklustre IYA who ended their campaign with four of four losses and without scoring any goal against their rivals.
Later in the day, WALYDA, who were one win away from securing Group A pole position and a draw to finish runners up, ended up biting the dust as they slumped to a 1-2 loss at the hands of KFC who finished fourth in the final group table.
M Dayananda gave WALYDA the hope of a victory scoring the opener in the 64th minute after a goalless first half but L Bidyananda helped KFC draw level before Y Wilson overturned the lead in the 74th minute.
WALYDA fought hard to come back into the game but time slipped fast and eventually suffered the heartbreaking loss.
