Exit polls predict clean sweep for NDA

Many exit polls predicted a cleen sweep for the BJP-led NDA in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. However, the NDA may not cross the 400-target that PM Modi had set for it.
While Prime Minister Narendra Modi aimed to script history by winning over 400 seats for the BJP-led NDA; Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the Opposition's INDIA bloc were determined to oust BJP and wrest power at the Centre.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA may win over 350 of the 543 seats in the Lok Sabha, however, it may not cross the 400-mark, most of the exit poll predicted on Saturday. Many exit polls showed a massive win for the BJP in Karnataka, the State it lost to the Congress just few months back. Meanwhile, India TV-CNX poll said the Chandrababu Naidu-led TDP and the NDA is likely to sweep Andhra Pradesh polls.
Different pollsters, such as India Today-Axis My India, Today's Chanakya, Times Now-ETG, C-Voter and CSDS-Lokniti, are releasing exit polls predictions for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 today.
Exit polls 2024 have been released on Saturday, June 1, soon after the voting for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 ended.
What exit polls mean?
An exit poll is a post-election survey which tends to predict the mood of the Nation. It's an opinion poll showing how many seats a political party will likely win. It must be noted that exit polls are not same as the official elections results. The official Lok Sabha Election Results 2024 will be declared on June 4 by the Election Commission of India.
In West Bengal, the BJP is set to surpass the Trina-mool Congress as the single largest party. While it bagged 18 seats in the State in 2019, this time it's set to take its tally past 20.  On the other hand, the TMC is predicted to get fewer than 20 seats.
The BJP is expected to open its account in Tamil Nadu and Kerala where it drew a blank last time. Elsewhere in the south, Karnataka is set to repose its faith in the BJP despite having voted for the Congress in the assembly polls.
The states where the NDA is predicted to get a slightly lower tally than last time include Bihar, Haryana and Rajasthan. But the NDA remains the single largest alliance in all these states.
Usually, who wins Uttar Pradesh wins India. In 2019, the NDA had won 64 of the 80 seats in the state.
This time, the exit polls predict that the NDA will boost its tally to almost 70 seats.
Meanwhile, simultaneous Assembly elections were held for Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim. The results for the Assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim will be declared on June 2, while those of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha will be declared on June 4.
