133rd Khongjom Lan commemorated

The Meghalaya Manipuri Welfare Society (MMWS), Shillong organised a program to commemorate the 133rd Khongjom Lan (Anglo Manipur War), 1891 at the Youth Hostel, Shillong on April 27, 2024.
A press release by Meghalaya Manipuri Welfare Society secretary said that different topics on the origin of the war and its consequences and the roles taken by the brave forefathers who fought and sacrificed their lives were discussed to have a better understanding of the Anglo-Manipur War.
The gathering also kept a thought on the ongoing unrest in Manipur and was resolute in doing their parts in any possible way to end the conflict and safeguard the territorial integrity of the State, added the release. It may be noted that the battle of Khongjom is considered as one of the greatest battles of the Anglo Manipuri War where the valiant Manipuri warriors fought against the mighty Britishers to safeguard their Motherland Manipur.
