NSU Imphal to host East Zone Inter University Women's Football Tournament from Nov 1 to 5 NSU VC urges all to facilitate smooth conduct of tournament

IMPHAL, Oct 30: National Sports University (NSU) Imphal is set to host East Zone Inter University Women's Football Tournament from November 1 to 5 in different venues in Imphal.
The zonal competition is featuring 30 university teams including previous edition's top four teams- Vidyasagar University, Ranchi University, Sambalpur University and LN Mithila University, who join in the qualifying round before the commencement of League matches.
The tournament will start on November 1 with 26 teams competing in knock-out competition till the last 8-round. The winners of the last-8 round winners will advance to the qualifying round (knock-out) and play with the previous edition's top four teams placed in four different pools.
The pool winners will progress into the final league round which will decide the top four teams.
A press conference was convened in connection with the tournament at the conference hall of Manipur Olympic Association.
Speaking to media persons, Dr L Dibamani, Registrar NSU, called upon all sections of the society to facilitate smooth conduct of the tournament and ensure that no disturbance is caused during the stay of players and officials representing different universities in the East Zone.
NSU VC Dr Usha S Nair, who also attended the press event, also called for the same and further maintained that NSU Imphal will also host the East Zone Men's Badminton Tournament at Khuman Lampak Indoor Hall from November 6 to 10. As many as 31 university teams will be participating in the tournament, she said.
NSU VC further appealed to sports lovers of the State to witness the zonal competition whose matches are to be held at Main Stadium ground, RCC grounds and SAI Takyel Ground, and make the tournament successful.
26 universities who will be competing in the knock-out round include Pt Ravishankar Shukla University; Kolhan University, Chaibasa; Bodoland University; Rajiv Gandhi University, Arunachal; Burdwan University; Rama Devi Women's University, Bhubaneswar; Manipur University, Jai Prakash University; Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith; Tripura University; Utkal University; Hemchand Yadav Vishwavidyalaya, Durg; Sidho Kanho Birsha University; West Bengal State University; University of Calcutta; Shaheed Mahendra Kumar Vishwavidyalaya; Vinoba Bhave University; Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherji University; Dhanamanjuri University; Banaras University; Adamas University; National Sports University; Sant Gahira Guru Vishwavidyalaya; BRA Bihar University, Muzaffarpur; Nagaland University and Dibrugarh University.
The tournament will be formally opened with Manipur University taking on Jai Prakash University at Main Stadium, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
