IMPHAL, Oct 21 : Demanding the unconditional and swift release of Akoijam Angou who was abducted by unknown individuals on September 30, a sit-in protest was staged yesterday at Bamonkampu Khabam, Imphal East district.
The sit-in was jointly organised by Bamon Kampu Women Welfare Association and Ching Tam Social Workers Union Club.
Speaking to media persons, Bamon Kampu Women Welfare Association general secretary Sagolshem Sundaribala said that Akoijam Angou was abducted by unknown persons after he left home to fetch his daughter from a tuition centre at Uripok on September 30. She lamented that despite widespread appeals, the State Government and relevant authorities have failed to trace the whereabouts of Akoijam Angou even after 20 days since he went missing. She urged the State Government to make all-out efforts to ensure the safe return of Akoijam Angou to his family. Further, Sundaribala appealed to the abductors to consider the suffering of his family members and release Akoijam Angou at the earliest.
