CPI (M) holds conference

IMPHAL, Oct 21 : Communist Party of India (Marxist) held its 20th "Konthoujam Local Conference" on October 20 at Moidangpok Khunou, Imphal West. The event was presided by Khumbongmayum Jugeshwar meitei.
The gathering also offered tribute to late general secretary of the party, Sitaram Yechuri, former West Bengal CM Budhadeb Bhattacharjee and former leader of Moidangpok local committee, Abujam Yaima. A two minute silence was observed for the  departed soul.
Speaking at the event, Kshetrimayum Santa, State secretary of the party said, "to have a peaceful environment in the State, a corruption free Government is required".
He alleged that, "the bloodshed and deadly  violence happening in the State is because of the weakness of the Government. The Government lacks unity in doing developmental work for the people. In order to attain freedom from it, we must unite together."
A 9 member, CPI (M) Konthoujam local committee was also constituted at the conference and comrade Potshangbam Gokul Singh was elected as secretary unanimously.
